Zagame news – September 2023

There have been some major new car launches overseas in the last few months and those cars are now heading our way./p>

For all the great things you can read about a car the ultimate test has to be how it drives. I'd heard lots about the Rolls-Royce Spectre but nothing could have prepared me for the drive through the Napa Valley at the worldwide launch. The first all-electric Rolls-Royce is every bit as luxurious as you'd expect, as refined as you've read, and it is a brilliant drive. If this is the future of luxury motoring then I'm all in!

Around the same time as Spectre was released, Singer unveiled the DLS Turbo at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. There's no doubt it was the star of the show - a stunning example of inspiration meets ability. Based on the famous Porsche models of the 1970's, but including the latest design technology, we simply can't wait to see the first DLS Turbo in Australia.

With new models from Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bentley and McLaren having just arrived, and more announced by Aston Martin and Lamborghini, there's even more to be excited about this month.

SINGER DLS TURBO

A standout from Goodwood (which is very hard to achieve).

The new Singer DLS Turbo was revealed at Goodwood Festival of Speed. That’s an entirely appropriate location.

This latest ‘Porsche re-imagined by Singer’ is inspired by the brutally effective Porsche 934 and 935 endurance racers from the 1970s. The attention to detail is extraordinary (as with any Singer). The evocative, racer-inspired feel adds a whole new dimension to the sense of connection these cars inspire. They somehow manage to both revere the past and embrace the future.

The body isn’t just beautiful, it’s also substantially strengthened to cope with the additional power of the engine – an air-cooled wonder developed by the Williams F1 Team. The sound of this engine (which revs to over 9000rpm) is incredible.

Carbon fibre panels, period-inspired BBS Wheels and the choice of a Road or Track specification make this an iconic vehicle that can be perfectly attuned to an owner’s dreams.

We’d be very happy to help make those dreams a reality.

ROLLS-ROYCE SPECTRE

Quite possibly the world’s best electric car.

We were recently lucky enough to drive the breakthrough electric Rolls-Royce Spectre at the car’s global launch in California’s Napa Valley. To be honest, the car left us lost for words. It’s that good. So maybe a few words from the world’s motoring press will give you a fuller picture.

“You’ll buy it because it may very well be the finest motor car in the world.”

“The first ever electric Rolls is a lesson to the entire car world in how to execute the ultimate luxury car”

"Rolls-Royce's first EV is a spectacular one, and proof that even the world’s most luxurious cars are capable of eco-friendly motoring.”

– Car and Driver (USA) –

Perhaps most importantly the Spectre is a brilliant drivers' car, capable of carving up the twisting narrow roads of the Napa Valley when driven enthusiastically.

If you’d like to know more, talk to Chris Hope at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Melbourne about his time behind the wheel of Spectre.

BENTLEY BENTAYGA

Now with an even longer list of luxuries.

Improving the Bentley Bentayga was a stretch – literally. The new Extended Wheelbase model now has even more of the world’s greatest luxury – space.

Not that’d you’d be aware from outside, or behind the wheel. The additional length makes no difference to the V8 EWB Bentayga’s driveability or performance.

Even the styling has simply assumed some additional elegance thanks to proportions that have been artfully elongated by 180mm. This creates rear legroom that can be accurately described as ‘palatial’.

Think of the Bentayga EWB as a limousine with additional practicality and a more commanding view. Of course, being a Bentley, this SUV also delivers the levels of performance you’d expect from this famous racing marque.

As with any Bentley, only a test drive can convey the real magic. Contact Bentley Melbourne to find out more.

MCLAREN ARTURA

The McLaren Artura. On track and on point.

McLaren recently provided the chance to experience the new McLaren Artura at Sandown Raceway and it proved to be a revelation.

The combination of electric and V6 power has created a seamlessly integrated, 500 kW of power producing an otherworldly shove that resets so many benchmarks. All while using as little as 4.6L/100km on the road.

Sandown’s mix of uneven tarmac, tight corners and long straights tested the cars to the limit. And it’s fair to say they shone under the pressure. The day showed just how well the Artura is attuned to conditions in Australia.

Unlike a pure electric drivetrain, the Artura is light (Just 1395kg). This helps to explain the nimble, laser-accurate handling. The light weight also helps to explain the blistering 3 second 0-100km/h sprint.

This is a guilt-free supercar you could drive every day. All while knowing you have the performance to make any track day one to remember. The attendees at Sandown certainly will.

Contact McLaren Melbourne to arrange a very memorable test drive.

Formula 1 inspired. With room for your team.

Aston Martin recently revealed the DBX 707 AMR 23 Edition. This Special Edition celebrates the Team’s successes in the 2023 Formula 1 season.

The design and specification was also inspired by the high-performance F1 Medical car supplied by Aston Martin. That DBX707 is fast enough to remain closely positioned at the rear of the F1 field on the crucial opening lap.

As you’d expect, power and speed are celebrated here too. The twin Turbo V8 develops 520kW of power and 900Nm of torque. The AMR 23 DBX707 accelerates to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

Not so long ago, this kind of performance was unthinkable even in a supercar – let alone a still-practical SUV. Unique Podium Green paint, green brake callipers and numerous design accents make this an even more special, Special Edition.

Production of these eye-catching, success-celebrating cars will be limited. Contact us now if you’d like to secure one.

ALFA ROMEO TONALE

Behind The Wheel – The Alfa Romeo Tonale.

First thought on approaching the Alfa Romeo is how beautifully it’s drawn. Some SUVs seem like a pack-horse was the inspiration behind the design. The Tonale is certainly a thoroughbred.

The signature Alfa Romeo ‘telephone-dial’ wheels perfectly accent the cohesive swoops and bulges of the bodywork. Styling is subjective, but this is surely one of the best-looking compact SUVs.

Inside, the design is no less impressive. It’s obviously an Alfa Romeo with a driver-focussed display directly ahead of the driver (this can appear traditional or high tech, whichever you prefer).

The supportive yet comfortable front seats encourage enthusiastic driving – like an Alfa should. The rear is big enough for adults too. And the boot would easily swallow all a family needs.

Out on the open road, the Tonale feels very safe and reassuring through the bends. It also sits very flat and stable, but all this grip doesn’t come at the expense of comfort. Speaking of expense, the hybrid drivetrain (petrol with seamless electric help) stretches the most out of every tank. So you won’t just love looking at the Tonale. You’ll love the running costs too.

Take a test drive, you’ll find the Tonale rewards a long, hard look.

HURACAN STERRATO

The unexpected Lamborghini launched where no-one expected.

Think of launch locations for a Supercar and Bali might not be first place that comes to mind. But then, no-one probably could have guessed that Lamborghini would create an any-road version of the Huracan V10-engined supercar either.

The Huracan Sterrato redefines what a supercar can be. It’s not afraid of a little dirt and dust. It doesn’t shudder at speedbumps. It’s even a little easier to get in and out of.

The compliant, longer-travel suspension and higher ground clearance add to the fun, not detract from it. It’s no wonder this wonderful anomaly has captured the world’s attention.

The exotic launch location perfectly suited this defiantly exotic and rare vehicle with only 900 to be available worldwide.

Judging by the buzz created at the regional launch in Bali, the Huracan Sterrato is already set to be a collector’s item. Contact us fast if you’d like to know more.
